About Us
Matthew Lienert
Managing director at Lienert Engineering, Kimba, South Australia
I believe strongly in regional and rural Australia. As a 4th generation farmer on the Lienert family farm at Buckleboo 40kms north west of Kimba, I have a deep connection with not only our local area but also that of all rural areas of Australia.
In small communities like Kimba, many want to make a go of every opportunity that arises. This is why so many are proving successful today, which is something I feel strongly about.
My family and my home are what is most important to me. A busy work life makes me appreciate the wonderful place we live and to spend time with friends and family along the way is something I enjoy.
I have spent my life growing up wanting to get involved in my community and its activities. With sport playing a huge role in my life it has allowed me to feel and experience the sense of community pride and has taught me many things about leadership along the way. I also enjoy getting involved with my children’s sport and schooling and generally helping out in any way possible.
I care about what other people think and value every one of our loyal staff and their opinions. We pride ourselves at Lienert Engineering on making our work place a professional , safe and fun place to work and encourage our staff to treat it as their own.
Our story
Matthew and Meagan Lienert started Lienert Engineering in August 2012. Matthew is a born and bred local having grown up on the family farm 40kms north west of Kimba in the wheat growing region of Buckleboo.
Matthew began a very early love of fixing and making things in his father’s workshop on the farm and as soon as he was old enough to leave school he had gone and started his boiler maker apprenticeship at 16.
Matthew moved back to his home town not long after and met his future wife Meagan who had taken up a position at the local school as a primary teacher.
After spending ten or so years on the family farm along with co-owning a clay delving and deep ripping business, Matthew and Meagan decided to have a go at setting up their own engineering shop in Kimba.
With both having a big passion for keeping locals in the area they put together a workforce that consisted of 3 local apprentices and 2 tradesman.
From there things grew rapidly with the business employing up to 22 people at one point in time in 2017.
The business has continued to grow and in 2018 Lienert Engineering became a member of the AIRR group which now allows them to access many agricultural products to complement their range of in-house designs.
Lienert Engineering has also had experience with offshore manufacturing which has taken Matt around the world looking and researching the best way for the business to remain innovative and look to the future.
